Some History
Red Roof Church - The Unlucky cape
Cap Malheureux (The Unlucky Cape) is a historical point that marks the landing of the British onto the island in 1810, to attack the French. The French who occupied the island then, from 1710 to 1810, named it the Unlucky Cape after the British surprised them by attacking the north of the island instead of the island’s harbour in Mahébourg and took possession of the island.
Port Louis Bazaar
Port Louis Bazaar (Central Market) is a shopping and street food hub in the heart of Port Louis, Mauritius’ capital city and it offers an authentic taste of local life in Mauritius. This is where the locals shop. Stalls are piled high with tropical fruits, vegetables and souvenirs and you’ll hear the sound of stallholders echoing around the hall as they shout prices and vie for your attention.

“I can’t thank the team at Mauritius Adventours enough for making my first trip to Mauritius truly unforgettable. From exploring Port Louis and Chinatown to discovering hidden gems that regular tours never include, every moment was special. Our guide Jay went above and beyond—never rushing us and even extending the tour to ensure we saw everything promised. This personalized experience made my visit to Mauritius so much more enjoyable, and I’m so grateful I chose Mauritius Adventours over other tour operators. Highly recommended for anyone seeking authentic, local adventures!”

“Jay from Mauritius Adventours created a tailor-made tour based on our interests, taking us to hidden places we never knew existed because they aren’t “advertised.” We had some spots completely to ourselves, including beautiful waterfalls where you can swim and even jump from the top if you’re adventurous! We only discovered Jaime at the end of our vacation, and we truly wish we had found Mauritius Adventours sooner. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to explore the real Mauritius beyond the usual tourist spots.”
